Healthy Challenge #2: No HFCS

HFCS is High Fructose Corn Syrup. We have talked about how SUGAR, is the main culprit for inflammation in the body, the start of disease causes diabetes and obesity as well as insulin resistance. Last week specifically went through how Fructose is 10-20x more glycating (damaging and aging) to the body than glucose is. So, Healthy Challenge #2, cut out all HFCS, TODAY! Actually, throw away everything with HFCS!

Look for these foods in your kitchen, read the ingredient label and if it has high fructose corn syrup……….. throw it out!

  1. Soda (stop soda altogether!)
  2. Candy
  3. Sweetened or flavored yogurt (cow, goat, and sheep yogurt can have it added)
  4. Salad dressing
  5. TV dinners, frozen pizza
  6. Bread, buns
  7. Canned fruits, like fruit cocktail
  8. Premade Juice, vegetable, and fruit
  9. Boxed dinners: mac n cheese, powdered cheese
  10. Granola bars, cereal bars, energy bars, pop tarts
  11. Breakfast cereal
  12. Condiments: ketchup, mustard, barbecue or steak sauce, relish
  13. Chips, cookies, crackers
  14. Coffee Creamer
  15. Sports drinks, energy drinks
  16. Jam and jelly
  17. Ice cream
  18. Applesauce
  19. Flavored oatmeal
  20. Cold cut meat
  21. Peanut butter
  22. Maple Syrup
  23. Flavored milks
  24. Mayonaise spreads
  25. Canned soup
  26. Canned tomatoes
  27. Cranberry sauce
  28. Cottage cheese
  29. Iced Tea
  30. Pickles
